butterfly week:: the cake

A month or two before the scheduled butterfly party, I stumbled upon the the blog Rene Takes The Cake. I fell in love with Rene’s work and her natural ability to create absolutely beautiful things with sugar. And how thrilled was I to find out she lived in Maryland, not too far from me?! I contacted her right away and we began scheming a possible collaboration.
When the butterfly theme was determined, I sent her an inspiration board with some of my ideas for the party. When she showed up at my house the day of the party, I died! She went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. The lace trim and sugar butterflies matched the party so beautifully and the flower….oh the flower was just so gorgeous. And not only was it beautiful, it was so delicious. The perfect consistency of cake and frosting.
If you live in the DC Metro area, I highly, highly recommend contacting Rene for your next party. And if you live elsewhere, check out her blog to see more of her stunning designs and work.
